Moon on Oct. 26th in Scorpio opposite Jupiter in Taurus and
sextile Pluto in Capricorn.
Saturn in Libra - “With Liberty and Justice for All.”
This month’s Full Moon in Aries opposite Saturn in Libra reminds us of
the disastrous January 2010 decision of the Supreme Court referred to
as the Citizens United Case. It opened the flood gates (that were
already partially opened) to campaigns for political office being able
to accept virtually limitless amounts of money from corporations and
banking enterprises. This decision granted them the “right” to inundate
the media with as many ads for their preferred candidates as they can
finance without declaring themselves.
Many people have asked me that if I had one wish that would change
America and restore our ailing democracy, what would that wish be. It
would be to take all money out of politics. I may get my wish. The
Dylan Ratigan Show on MSNBC on Sep. 27th announced that a
group comprised of people from both political parties has drafted a
constitutional amendment that would effectively ban any money going to
any campaign. If you are interested in signing on or wish to see the
text of the proposed amendment, go to getmoneyout.com and judge for
yourself.
I believe that grass roots movements like this will eventually move the
United States closer to the remarkable efforts of our founding fathers
whose ideals regarding a government by and for “the People” led us
toward equality of opportunity and a right to the “pursuit of
happiness”. The struggle between wealthy powerful ruling elites and
everyone else has been with us all along. Nobody has an argument with
those who achieve professional and financial success. It is when a
small group of people with a lot of money buy out the government,
control the banking system, “financialize” the economy to the point that
most of the money is in “notional” derivatives to the tune of hundreds
of trillions of dollars that we need to stop the insanity. This model
of the concept of success bears a startling resemblance to the old Mafia
numbers racket.
Saturn remains in the sign of Libra through October 5, 2012 and makes
many aspects to the natal chart of the U.S.A. The most intense aspect
coming up is a destabilizing square to the Mercury/Pluto opposition on
the financial axis of the chart. Pluto is about wealth and power.
Mercury is about communication and voters rights. Will the voters
listen?
Obama Healthcare:
Another matter coming before the Supreme Court is the legality of the
portion of the healthcare reform bill that “requires” people to buy
health insurance. The Republicans who are challenging this bill claim
that it is unconstitutional to force people to buy insurance. We will
soon see a ruling on this issue. Without this requirement, most of this
legislation will fall apart. Venus and Mercury are also transiting
Libra this month and will trine Neptune between the 8th and
the 12th. This decision will be important for the future for
an already dysfunctional healthcare system.
The Economy:
Last month’s wild fluctuations in financial markets effected stocks,
commodities, currencies, gold and silver across the board.
After a major correction, I think we will see gold coming back in the
second half of the month. The kneejerk reaction to European nations’
serious financial troubles consisted of jumping back into U.S. dollars
and out of everything else. The wild fluctuations will continue for a
while. Jupiter trine Pluto between the 24th and the 28th
will stimulate stock investments that are observed as being on a long
term growth track.
Between the 27th and the 28th, Venus and Mercury
in Scorpio will be square Mars in Leo and will square Neptune on Nov. 1st.
Corruption and illegal activities in financial industries will likely
surface. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has demonstrated a
will to go after the insiders in financial industries who may have
committed crimes. Coincidentally, the banksters are circulating a bill
in Congress that would “give them immunity from prosecution”. It would
be helpful for all of us to notify our congressional representatives
that Wall Street is not exempt from the rule of law. The recent protest
demonstrations on Wall Street were nearly “blacked out” on the media and
the police used mace against these peaceful demonstrators. These
protesters are now getting increased attention on the internet and are
persisting in making their point.
The Middle East:
Revolutions continue in this region. The charts of Lebanon and Israel
are being activated this month by the transit of Mars in Leo.
Hezbollah, that is a political party in Lebanon and a terrorist
organization to Israel, has gained power recently. The December 10th
Lunar Eclipse at 18 degrees of Gemini hits the chart of Lebanon. Israel
has recently granted more land for construction projects in the disputed
territories. Palestine recently sought recognition as a state from the
U.N. Trouble is brewing here.
Libya’s revolutionaries will continue to capture cities and win their
revolution, but problems related to the December eclipse point to
problems with factions within the movement itself. Their challenge will
be to hold their movement together and elect leaders that are united
enough to form a new government.
Egypt’s revolutionaries are unhappy with the emergence of people from
the old regime vying for power. Recently, the Israeli embassy was set
on fire and Islamic extremists are demanding policy changes. The
September elections have been moved to late November when Mercury goes
retrograde, which never bodes well for an election.
The fundamental tenants of all these revolutions, giving more power to
the people-at-large are admirable. However, the factional and ethnic
disputes could make the pathway to more democracy a long and difficult
journey. A bright note in all this is that Saudi Arabia recently
granted women the right to vote and hold office. Although the nation is
controlled by a monarchy, this is a step forward in one of the most
repressive nations in the world to women’s rights. For years, women
were not even allowed to drive a vehicle. This past year, as a protest,
many women got into cars and drove anyway. It seems their efforts are
paying off.
A Breakthrough in Energy:
In the September 9th Issue of MailOnline, author Rob Waugh
reported “Britain has joined forces with America to investigate a
high-tech new way of producing clean energy – not from wind or waves,
but from firing huge arrays of high-powered lasers at pellets of
hydrogen.” He goes on to say that at the National Ignition Facility in
the U.S., huge bursts of energy have been produced employing the
technology, “using a stadium-sized building housing an array of 192
lasers which fire a 500 terrawatt flash at a drop of hydrogen atoms just
1mm across.”
Thousands of experiments on non-fossil fuel energy are going on around
the globe that are receiving little if any publicity, but are hopeful.
I have predicted that a new form of energy will replace coal, oil and
gas and have an infrastructure online between 2024 and 2026. If our
species wishes to survive the challenges that are with us now and lie
ahead, we need to commit to these breakthroughs and their
implementations with a profound sense of immediacy.
A Great Light Has Gone Out:
Dr. Wangari Maathai of Kenya, the first African woman to win the Nobel
Prize, died last month at the age of 71. Her mission to restore the
environment by planting trees leading to The Green Belt Movement which
was her life’s passion, set off an effort that spread around the world
and was a major inspiration to global environmentalists everywhere. Her
humility combined with a commitment to the health of the earth and the
“greater good” never wavered. We will all miss her loving presence
among us, but we need to honor her by continuing her work.
Final Thoughts:
Many of us are looking around us in bewilderment. It would appear that
“while we were asleep” dark forces have taken our power away from us and
seem to be orchestrating a systemic failure of economies, governments,
and even the very ecological system that supports life on earth. The
History Channel frequently presents us with scenarios where the
“anti-Christ” would appear and lead an unsuspecting world into a great
war; or that an asteroid or comet hits the earth and annihilates life;
or volcanoes erupt, ending our civilization, or even aliens land on
earth and take control.
I think that our greatest “enemy” lies in our own paranoia. Our problem
is looking to “blame” everyone outside ourselves; the “other guy”,
mysterious evil ruling elites that have set out to destroy us and “take
over”, rendering us powerless. This may be true, but the fact is that
we allowed this to happen.
Our greatest hope lies in taking responsibility for going to sleep in
the first place. Now, we are waking up and it is painful to look
squarely at truths that in the past, we chose to ignore. It is within
the recognition that we allowed these happenings that hope resides. We
can make the choice to change the tide of history. And in so doing, we
may move forward and upward into a human expression that soars to a
level never experienced before. So let’s get going!
The time is now.
