THE SOOTHESAYER INTERNET October 2007
Last month’s solar eclipse in the chart of North Korea played out in a very interesting way. The Israelis bombed an area in Syria thought to be a site containing nuclear material sold to them by North Korea. The peaceful protests against the military regime in Myanmar remind us of the courage and strength still left somewhere in humanity and should be an example to all of us.
The continuing chaos in the Middle East was highlighted by Iran’s prime minister at the United Nations and speaking at Columbia University about his nation’s peaceful intentions. His history is one of provoking and raising the ire of Israelis and Americans by denying the Holocaust ever took place. As bad as he is, attacking Iran would be an absolute disaster. The Bush administration is looking for the first opportunity to make this happen.
This would have to get in line with all the other Bush disasters: the war in Iraq, the clean-up after Hurricane Katrina, and the sub-prime mortgage debacle leading the economy into bankruptcy. With Mars marching into Cancer, the sun placement of both the U.S.A. and George W. Bush, the war-mongering and violence continue. His “Presidential Directives” allow him to become a dictator who has trashed the Constitution and the rule of law, while Congress is just letting it all happen. Our democratic government with its balance of powers is finished. Out democracy is history. At some point in the future, as Pluto enters the sign of Capricorn, I am predicting another American Revolution, most likely between 2010 and 2020. People are just beginning to come out of their collective coma now. It is a long and arduous road ahead.
The aspects I have mentioned previously in the chart in Pakistan are resulting in the return of the former Prime Minister Bhutto, whose administration was found guilty of corruption and fleecing the treasury. The conflicts among ethnic and tribal groups, many who are protecting Bin Laden and his warriors, are very serious.
The Economy: Ordinarily, September should have been witness to a huge sell-off in the Dow. All the news is disastrous: builders are going under, the housing market is the worst in over 30 years, and the number of foreclosures is breaking all records. In the real economy, people are losing their jobs, small businesses are losing business, nobody can sell a house, prices are rising into an inflationary spiral as oil is up over $80 a barrel. The dollar is falling like a rock. Gold is up. The Fed lowered interest rates again – the policy that got us into the mess to begin with. They are generously rewarding the guys who gave out the bad mortgages by handing out more billions of dollars to the banks and temporarily boosting the stock market spin like there is no tomorrow. Already other nations are getting out of our treasuries. I wonder who is going to finance our outlandish deficit. Dubai is bidding for a sizeable chunk of the Nasdaq. Corporate capitalists are putting a “for sale” sign up for America.
I still think that this month will see a correction in gold before it spikes upward again later on. The dollar is beginning to remind me of the 1920’s in Germany, the era of the Weimar Republic when people filled barrels up with money to buy one loaf of bread! To hear the pundits on television, we will recover from the $20 trillion of worthless paper (collateralized debt obligations) and just sail on to prosperity in this wonderful free market economy. Allen Greenspan is hawking his latest book, blaming Bush for the disastrous real estate bubble and crash and saying we deserve to lose dollar credibility – let the Euro-dollar become the global currency. Pardon me, but I believe it was Greenspan who spun the low interest rates (down to 1% in 2003) and was a full partner with the Bush gang. He says the Iraq war is simply all about oil, which he never said at all while he was in office, like so many others who went along with the big lie, most of all the corporate media.
Meanwhile, we all have to survive. My advice right now is hold onto your gold positions and get into Canadian dollars (currency rising). Canada’s commodities economy is thriving in these “interesting times”. Since 2002, my vision has been long-term not short-term: energy stocks, gold, silver, water technology and management, alternative energies and sustainable technologies. I do not give out names of stocks on this site; just sectors. You need to invest time and energy studying the histories of companies whose stock you wish to buy. People have made the most enormous sums of money in derivatives and hedge funds over the past several years but this is only for those who can afford to lose big. This is the essence of the “roulette wheel” economy that will ultimately lead us down the tubes as the sub-prime collateralized debt obligations bought and held in hedge funds have recently illustrated.
More bad news around falling corporate profits, consumers staying at home and buying less, and escalating bankruptcies and foreclosures will all be coming out this month. Will “helicopter Ben” lower interest rates again to keep Wall Street happy? By all rights, the stock market should correct itself, but “the cabal” will do whatever it can to stave it off. The aspects don’t lie! Things are bad no matter what the Fed does. The real economy and real people now know they have been shafted!
The War(s): With Mars in Cancer this month, there is a major stimulus for the Bush administration to strike Iran, an absolutely disastrous move as judged by anyone with an ounce of brain activity. I predict that there will also be a concerted resistance on the part of many people in the military itself to delay or stop this move.
Mercury goes retrograde October 12th through November 2nd. It stations in 9 degrees of Scorpio, a degree that has coincided with financial crises in the past. A military strike on Iran, among other things, would certainly fit that scenario. I would also expect “skullduggery” by this administration to make it look like Iran was striking us first – building a similar network of lies that was constructed before invading Iraq. Our gigantic budget deficits as a result of the cost of this war combined with tax breaks for richest Americans will insure our country’s bankruptcy. Human lives lost and people displaced in Iraq and our own young soldiers killed or maimed for life all add up to inexcusable chaos and disaster. The congress, elected to end the war in Iraq has just voted to authorize war on Iran. Iran, although an enemy of Israel and the U.S.A has not invaded a country, and most likely does not yet have a nuclear weapon. They have a history of housing terrorists. Interestingly, terrorists have a history of hiding out in just about every Middle Eastern nation except (you got it) Iraq! Of course, since we invaded Iraq, it is now a magnet for terrorists of all types and sizes. There are economic and diplomatic solutions to problems in Iran. The nation itself is at odds with its own theocratic government and would likely put in new leadership if left to its own devices.
Astrological placements describe the issues we will have to face and the emergence of historic themes. People’s decisions and choices are what control the present and the future. It is tempting to feel helpless and hopeless when faced with the power of this administration, but our letters, emails, memberships in political coalitions, peaceful demonstrations, and our votes do count for something.
Travel & Weather: The transit of Mars in Cancer this month frequently coincides with precipitation, so there may be flooding, especially in the central USA. The October 12th retrograde Mercury coinciding with Jupiter square Uranus the week of the 7th, would make weather and travel conditions difficult in that time period. The first week of Oct. as Venus in Leo is trine Pluto may be a better time to travel.
Final Thoughts: I am of the opinion that the key to surviving and thriving in these “interesting times” is summoning the courage to look at what is happening in the world without turning into a “pillar of salt”. Once we are able to force truths out of the shadows, we have a real chance to make the changes that need to be made. We also have a chance to co-create a human presence on the planet that works in concert with the earth and in cooperation with one another. Over and over again, we have been enlightened by the finest hearts and reminded by the greatest minds that it is always darkest before the dawn. |
