THE SOOTHESAYER INTERNET

November 2005

With the recent indictment of "Scooter" Libby, Vice Pres. Dick Cheney’s Chief of Staff in the Valerie Plame scandal, the problems haunting the Bush administration continue to attract media attention. In previous newsletters, I predicted that there would be considerable trouble around VP Dick Cheney and problems continue to plague him this month, through the end of December. The new moon at 9 degrees Scorpio is square Saturn and will oppose Mars in December connecting in stressful ways with his natal chart. There are many people who think he is more than involved in this scandal.

Mercury will retrograde this month on the 14th until it goes direct on December 4th. Saturn goes retrograde on the 22nd square Mars. There will be delays and considerable frustration getting things moving this month and it will require patience on our part. Do not sign important documents or begin new projects at this time. As this same Mercury (communications, data, travel) is square transiting Uranus on the 6th and the 21st, we all need to summon extra caution, guarding against traveling accidents or verbal "flubs".

It has been my experience that people are in "disaster burnout" mode. With the recent record-breaking hurricanes hitting New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, and Florida; the tragic war in Iraq; the shattering earthquake in Pakistan; fears over an Avian Flu pandemic, the Bush administration scandal and the battles over appointments to the Supreme Court, there is a general tendency to want to pull the covers over our collective heads and escape the whole show. Certainly, we need to rest and meditate on the events unfolding before us with a renewed perspective. This is a better alternative to ignoring important historic events.

The economy:

The controlling and powerful "cabal" will have to work hard to keep the markets up this month with Saturn square both Jupiter and Mars. Venus enters Capricorn on the 6th of this month through the 15th of December, retrogrades back into the sign Jan. 2nd, goes direct Feb. 3rd and leaves the sign on March 5th. Venus is the "ruler" of currency and I predict we will see currency crises emerge this month, especially with the Euro-dollar. This transit is very good for gold, silver and mining stocks. Jupiter entered Scorpio last month and will be in this sign until Nov. 24th of 2006. This normally helps the U.S. economy, but because it is running into stresses with Mars, Saturn and Neptune, it will be hard-pressed to do that much good.

Consumer confidence in the economy has fallen because the economy of "Main Street" is getting worse. Real wages are falling, inflation is still very much with us, health care has become unaffordable and most of the good jobs are being outsourced to cheap labor forces abroad.

The war:

There will be escalating problems with Iran, Syria and other Arab nations this month. Since we are still battling seemingly endless insurgencies in Iraq, it will be all but impossible to take on other nations. Most of us are realizing that invading Iraq was a colossal mistake. I do not see us able to begin to extricate ourselves from this "black hole" until August 2006. The recent election approving the constitution will not stop the constant violence that has destroyed most of Iraq’s infrastructure and made the lives of its citizens a living Hell. Pres. Bush and the Congress are talking about our budget deficits and cutting benefits to the poor, the elderly, and the disabled. This war is bringing our country to the edge of bankruptcy and will be one of the major factors that leads us into a depression in 2008.

Medicine & health:

The recent "blitz" about the spread of Avian Flu throughout the world has put us in touch with the need to develop a really solid infrastructure of public health that would be in a position to develop flu vaccines and distribute them quickly and efficiently. We are currently a long way from this, but I actually think the renewed awareness will do some good and help the process along. This month, Pres. Bush will propose his program for preventing the spread of a pandemic. I think we need to speed the process for vaccinations for the prevailing flu, which has been delayed up until now.

Problems for the Europeans:

I think that Germany will be having economic and political problems this month and the parties will be unable to make necessary compromises.

Although Tony Blair was re-elected Prime Minister, the UK parliament may be getting ready to give him a "no-confidence" vote between now and January. His views are increasingly unpopular and the Iraq war is a sword in the side of the British people.

More information will be coming out with regard to the civil conflicts in Bosnia and governments recently elected in Eastern European nations will increasingly be in trouble.

France is a Leo nation and Saturn is forcing them to face economic limitations and deficiencies in their leadership. They may make badly needed moves to restrict spending.

Travel:

Do not travel between the 5th and the 6th, or between the 21st and the 22nd, as Mercury is square Uranus. Difficult weather conditions and mechanical problems are a possibility.

The 23rd through the 27th, Jupiter is trine Uranus and conditions are improved. Watch out for delays this month as Mercury goes retrograde.

Final thoughts:

Uranus stations to go direct this month in the 7th degree of Pisces. This particular Sabian symbol is described in "The Zodiac by Degrees" by Martin Goldsmith as "A minister invites a dirty urchin into his church for a bite to eat. The boy stares in wonder at the opulent surroundings and at the beautiful woman singing a hymn".

This is the month of the Thanksgiving holiday, remembering our colonial immigrant ancestors, warding off starvation and giving thanks for the generosity of the native Americans who helped them grow the food on their tables. We are being constantly reminded how fortunate we are for the abundance we have and the millions all over the world who are starving, suffering from the terror and losses of war, dealing with the devastation of earthquakes and storms. This is a time to love, to share, and to be aware of both the fragility and the strength of human life on planet earth.

As we gather with our families and friends to give thanks, let us all realize from our heart center that our abundance must be shared with one another throughout the world and that no matter how hard the challenges are that we have to face, there is a much better part of ourselves that truly has what it takes to bring a great generosity and life-affirming love to the human experience.

Have a very special holiday!
