November 2004

With a record-breaking voter turnout, America has chosen George W. Bush as President for a second term, giving us all pause to consider where this nation is headed, at this historic juncture.

The transit of Pluto in Sagittarius between now and its last and critical degree in 2008 would suggest increased tax breaks going to the rich, the continued redistribution of wealth out of the middle class into the pockets of the wealthiest individuals, enormous funds spent on the seemingly endless global “war on terror”, and nothing to stem the tide of joblessness due to automation and outsourcing to cheap labor abroad.

The President wants to “privatize” Social Security, which essentially means ending the system of benefits that for generations has worked well to benefit the poor and middle class.  He has already “borrowed 520 billion dollars from the Social Security Trust Fund which is now only an IOU from the President.  This is all happening simultaneously when people’s wages are either stagnant or falling and the cost of health care, housing and energy are skyrocketing.  This is all happening when the baby boomers are reaching retirement age.

Giant agricultural corporations will continue to put small farmers out of business not only here in the U.S.A. but on a world-wide basis, forcing them to buy genetically engineered grains that cannot reproduce themselves so that each farmer, already in debt, has to buy his seeds again and again from agricultural conglomerates.  This system was recently forced on the farmers in Iraq when Paul Bremmer enacted a law to this effect before he left his post in that country.

The unregulated and out-of-control trading of derivatives by giant financial services, hedge funds, and global banks will likely get no attention whatsoever from this government, controlled by conservative Republicans.  By 2008, when Pluto goes from 29 degrees of Sagittarius into 00 degrees of Capricorn, we may experience a systemic collapse of the global financial system.

When Saturn transits Leo from July 2005 through early September 2007, some aspects of the economy will seem to improve.  This is a temporary respite and not to be confused with a long term bullish stock market and healthy economy.  The lack of regulation, checks and balances will likely lead us into a cycle from 2008 through 2024 that we have not seen since the Great Depression of the 1930’s.

Since Pres. Bush is not enforcing important environmental legislation and has disengaged us completely from the Kyoto Environmental Treaty (which even the Russians recently signed), we will experience noticeable increases in asthma and other illness related to a polluted environment.

Pres. Bush’s energy “plan” is to add more nuclear plants with no known means of disposing of the highly toxic radioactive waste, and to dig up Alaska whose oil reserves are minimal.  By 2010, we will be running out of oil to supply our enormous energy needs, partly because of India and China geometrically increasing their consumption of oil and gas, and partly because world-wide oil and gas reserves will be running out.

Bush has absolutely no mandates to assist the development and use of windmill and solar sources of energy.

Astrology presents to us a projection of the issues and themes we will have to confront in our time and in times to come.  We can modify, prepare, create and innovate, if we so choose and do not have to be forced to our knees by the social and economic climates ahead.  However, I see little in Pres. Bush’s policies to help people meet the future or even modify the powerful forces that may bring our civilization, as we know it, to an end.

It will be, therefore, up to each and every one of us to work for the kind of changes in the world we wish to see.  This takes insight, innovation, and resolve way beyond the ordinary.  Let’s not wait until it is too late.  Let’s get going!

This Month (November 2004)

THE ECONOMY

With the recent bad news about increased layoffs and dropping consumer confidence, the “cabal” has had a difficult time holding the stock market up.  With Saturn forming a square with Mars, my take is the market will fall on the 8th, rise on the 11th, and fall again on the 29th.  Between the 22 of this month and Dec. 5th, gold and gold stocks should gain considerable strength as Jupiter trines Neptune.

Mars enters Scorpio from Nov. 12th through Dec. 25th, joined by Venus from Nov. 23rd through Dec. 16th.   Venus conjuncts Mars on Dec. 6th.   More scandals will emerge involving corporate crime, dubious business practices, and cheating in the insurance industries.  Mercury transits Sagittarius from Nov. 5th through Jan. 10th because it retrogrades Nov. 30th through Dec. 20th.  It goes over Pluto between Nov. 20th to the 21st bringing things very much to the public’s attention.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

The transit of Mars in Scorpio usually spells trouble, amplifying the emotions of dissidents, terrorists and people with violent tendencies.  This is especially the case when Mars squares Neptune between the 28th and the 30th.  Russia’s chart is activated by this transit as are the charts of India, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea and South Korea, and Israel.

Strikes on oil pipelines, oil spills, and problems in general with the transportation of oil and gas may be on the horizon.  The new moon at 20 degrees of Scorpio on Nov. 12th will likely set off this cycle, culminating in a full moon at 4 degrees of Gemini squared by Uranus.

More information may emerge connecting Iran with Iraqi insurgency.  Iran will continue to build up its nuclear stockpile in defiance of the U.S.A. since we are fully engaged in the mess in Iraq and do not have enough troops to expand into Iran.  Israel may come into the picture here, but is still engaged in the Palestinian conflict as Arafat’s demise looms over the horizon.

 HEALTH & MEDICINE

The transit of Mars in Scorpio warns us to take care of ourselves, especially since the flu vaccine shortage makes us more vulnerable.  Exercise, rest, and a good diet will help to divert the problem.

TRAVEL

Do not travel between the 5th and the 6th; and between the 20th and the 21st, as Mercury first squares Uranus and then goes over Pluto.  A good time to travel is between the 12th and the 14th as Mercury sextiles Jupiter and Neptune.

CLOSING THOUGHTS:

As Saturn transits the sign of Cancer through July 17th, 2005, we as a nation need to come face to face with the economic, social, and moral breakdown that threatens to topple our civilization and with it the “American dream”.  It is not the time to congratulate ourselves with platitudes and spread war and arrogance around the world.

We need to look at the handwriting in the stars and recognize that old ways must destroy themselves to make room for what is new and more advanced; a civilization of intelligence, inclusion, love and respect.

The seeds for a new world can be sown by each and every one of us in the place where we stand.  The light that has arrived here on earth is awaiting our eyes.  The love that has arrived is awaiting our hearts.

Blessings to all!
