THE SOOTHESAYER INTERNET
May 2005
The real economy is finally “catching up” with the masters of “spin”. This month’s transit of Mars in Pisces, hitting Uranus on the 18th and square Pluto on June 2nd points to the destabilization of just about everything from financial markets, to oil prices, to weather patterns.
Pres. Bush’s astrological chart is taking a series of “hits” including Mars opposing his natal Mars and progressed Sun, joining Uranus in the inconjunction to his Ascendant, Mercury and Pluto. If he were just an ordinary individual, I would predict significant problems with his job, including a job loss. In addition, there are dangers to his physical health and well-being. Neptune is transiting the “whistle blowing” degree of Aquarius and House Majority Leader, Republican Tom Delay is in real trouble with regard to finance scandals. People are losing confidence in the stock market, inflation looms, and consumer confidence is dropping.
It is becoming apparent, as I have been saying for some time, that a powerful group of trans-national capitalists backed by policies of the U.S. government and assisted by the U.S. military are truly in control of a world that is increasingly detrimental to the people-at-large. Poverty is growing and the global environment is increasingly being threatened as this administration continues to promote outsourcing of jobs to cheap labor markets abroad, illegal immigration of low wage migrant workers from Mexico, and a scrapping of programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid (the latter which was recently cut in a budget including a continuation of tax breaks for the richest two percent of Americans).
The good news is that more and more people are waking up to policies and problems that have been developing for many years. Books are being written and people are speaking out, in spite of the mainstream media spending more time on the run-away bride and the Michael Jackson trial than the major issues at hand! The American tradition of free speech is still alive and well.
The Economy:The stock market is in a bearish cycle that will continue into June. The New Moon at 17 degrees of Taurus square Neptune on May 8th symbolizes fear and uncertainty. General Motors is on the verge of bankruptcy and Ford is not far behind. Health care will be a major topic this month as our system is failing people in major ways. More and more people are uninsured and insurance costs are rising so fast more people will lose their coverage. Mars in Pisces will call our attention to these issues as stocks will fall in this sector. This will not bode well for Pres. Bush’s idea of putting part of Social Security into private investment accounts, as more and more retirement accounts will plunge with the market. The one sector that will soften but not crash is real estate. With rising interest rates, the housing market will simply not rise the way it has in recent years. However, people will still be buying homes, although more slowly. The dollar will continue to fall this month, especially the 17th through the 29th of this month. Some advance notice for the future: in Nov. of this year through early March of 2006, Venus will transit Capricorn, retrograding from December 24th through Feb. 3rd. This points to a fall of the Euro-dollar and a cycle in which gold and precious metals will rise again.
Unemployment will likely rise this month as corporations scramble to hire cheap labor forces abroad to help their increasingly wavering bottom lines.
Politics & Foreign Relations:Pisces is a sign connected to liquids. The future of oil prices and markets will come up as the oil producing nations are increasingly destabilized. Last month insurgents again blew up a major pipeline in Iraq and Pres. Bush failed to extract promises from Saudi leaders to lower oil prices. There are increased dangers of terror attacks now through June. There is also an increased likelihood of oil spills at this time.
Conflicts in the Senate and the House and dissent within the government in general will affect the government. Scandals will abound and “leaks” (Pisces) surrounding leaders in the Bush administration will likely emerge between now and June. There is a chance that government in general will be troubled.
The good news is that more important information will come out into the open and people will have that chance to evaluate information that has previously been hidden from the public.
Island nations around the world such as Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia will be experiencing instabilities this month connected with earthquakes and floods. Their governments will be somewhat ineffective at this time in dealing with these issues.
Weather and the Environment:Mars in Pisces is usually wet and stormy, especially on the East Coast of the U.S. When Mars hits Uranus from the 13th through the 16th, earthquakes, storms and other possibilities of this nature are likely. This is not a good time to travel in general.
The New Moon of May 8th is squaring Neptune making it difficult to clearly predict many of the coming storms.
Final Comments:With all these challenges and instabilities emerging, we could allow ourselves to be overwhelmed and feel ineffective, at best, at coming up with solutions to the multiplicity of problems we are being forced to face.
However, as an astrologer, I have a different viewpoint on all this. The planetary patterns are presenting to us a period in which we have the opportunity to look at truths that have been obscured or hidden away for a very long time. As a nation, we have been moving from bubble to bubble, living in a make-believe world consisting of unrestrained credit and consumption, as if there were no consequences. The bubbles are now breaking, the credit is used up, and the consequences are beginning to make themselves felt in all our lives.
We are becoming aware that we have been stuffing our wallets and starving our souls; that the time has come to dramatically change our priorities. By working together, we can set ourselves free of the chains we ourselves have forged through the years and witness a different kind of progress in our lives than the accumulation of dollars or the development of a new throw-away electronic device.
With the will and resolve
to experience our lives in service to the planet and each other, we may yet save
our spiritually starved civilization and rescue life on earth from the edge of
extinction. LindaLinda L. Schurman |
