 The USA – A Constitutional Democracy or a Military State?

 Those of you who are regular readers of this newsletter may recall my informing you of last year’s “Presidential Directives” issued by Pres. Bush.  One gives him the right to declare martial law throughout the country at his discretion and the other gives him the right to confiscate the properties of any persons he deems would be getting in the way of the war in Iraq.  These directives were issued last May and July respectively.

  Canwest News Service published an article on Feb. 22^nd announcing that on Feb. 14^th in Texas , Canada and the U.S. signed an agreement allowing the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a “civil emergency”.

 All this seems to be part of Pres. Bush’s frequently covert plans to institute a “new world order” subverting national sovereignty, the rule of law, and the authority of individual national constitutions.  These are being replaced with expanded executive power (over-riding Congress and the Courts) and militaries designed to subjugate the citizens of the nations involved (the U.S., Canada and Mexico).  These steps have not been discussed on our national media, nor have they been brought up in the presidential debates.  Only Arianna Huffington on the Huffingtonpost.com has had the guts to interview the presidential candidates about what they would do with the Bush Presidential Directives.

 The Mars opposition Pluto on the 4^th through the 6^th this month are very violent and suggest tendencies toward war, civil unrest, and the undue exercise of government power.

 As Pluto begins its long trek through the sign of Capricorn, it is easy to see why this historic period compares with two transits ago when Martin Luther publicly renounced the blatant corruption in the Roman Catholic Church, laying the foundation for the Protestant Reformation.  It is easy to compare with the more recent transit in the 1700’s when American colonists rebelled against the taxation and tyranny of the British Empire, setting up the American Revolution.  Hopefully, this time, there will be a genuine overthrow of the corrupt throughout our system and we will take back our democracy – this time peacefully, through non-violent public protest, voting, openly sharing information, and expressing dissent respectfully.

The Economy:

 Along with the sub-prime mortgage debacle escalating many of our largest banks toward ultimate insolvency, auction-rate securities are falling down the rabbit hole along with the tragic halt of municipal bond markets due to the monolines (insurers of the bonds) losing their ratings since they used as collateral the now worthless CDOs.  This has not changed even with the feeble attempt to bail them out.  The dollar has fallen to just over $.73 and oil has reached $102 a barrel. 

 Gold has climbed into the $970’s.  Recently, when it briefly moved downward, investors immediately bought more.  I still think we will see a correction in gold early this month and another upward movement toward the end of the month into late April.  There is no way we are going back to low oil prices, low gold prices and a strong dollar.  The runaway credit bubble connected to national and global derivatives is now a runaway avalanche, taking the mountain down with it as the roulette wheel economy unwinds with terrible consequences.  Mars in Cancer will oppose Pluto on March 4^th, escalating violence and fueling problems in Iraq, costing us more money and lives.  Our $7 Trillion budget deficit is threatening our government with insolvency.  . 

 Meanwhile, back on the ranch, the ranch is deserted and in foreclosure as hundreds of thousands of families lose their homes, their jobs, their dreams.  Although a topic for the election debates, there is no solution in sight for all those without health insurance.  Inflation is skyrocketing fueled by rising energy prices and raising the price for food and all the necessities of life.  Mars in the sign of Cancer (food and medicine) will highlight all these problems this month, throughout April and into early May.  Emotions will run high.

 In spite of all this, the last two weeks of March contains Jupiter sextile Uranus that will help certain sectors of the stock market; technology, oil, water, commodities and precious metals among those that will benefit.  However, be careful to cash in the tech stocks before the Saturn opposition Uranus aspect occurs in the period of October/November.  We need only recall that in May of 2000, the Saturn Uranus square burst the dot.com bubble.  However, during the upcoming period of March through June, this sector should do well.

 Many people have emailed me and called asking for my advice as to how to invest in gold.  Since I am not licensed to be a broker or trader, I never recommend or name specific stocks on this site, nor can I do this privately.  I can recommend sectors, using astrology as a guide.  You may choose to buy gold or silver (coins or bullion) directly from a gold dealer or buy gold shares.  You may consult your financial advisor with regard to gold funds and carefully researched gold or silver mining stocks.  This is an area that requires study and I recommend these highly knowledgeable high integrity sources: LeMetropoleCafe   (an online newsletter to which you may subscribe) GATA.org (great background material) and newsletters by Doug Casey www.caseyresearch.com and Jim Sinclair http://www.jsmineset.com who do extensive research and have long term experience in this sector. Asia – The Rising Economic Giant:

 Many economists and financial prognosticators, for very good reasons, are looking to the 21^st Century as belonging to the nations of Asia.  The recent rapid economic development, especially in China and India, and their huge populations should be a magic formula for enormous expansion and success.  Many investors are buying funds and stocks in these rising nations.  There is no doubt some of these investment strategies will pay off. 

 However, we must be aware that the planetary movements and cycles of this particular period in human history is filled with such monumental crisis and change that it throws everything “up in the air”.  Global warming will likely affect many coastal regions and island nations, making some areas uninhabitable.  Accelerating earthquake and volcanic cycles that lie ahead may most disturb the Pacific nations, as demonstrated by the 2004 tsunami.  The melting of the glaciers on the mountain chains upon which many nations have depended for potable water for thousands of years is putting populations at risk, especially in China.  China’s rapid industrialization with no environmental controls has contaminated its air and water.  Labor will shortly no longer be contented to work long hours in highly toxic conditions for low wages.

 The redirecting of rivers in India to accommodate certain  industries is destroying irrigation of farmland that has existed for thousands of years.  In addition, India’s civil infrastructure is inadequate (highways, transportation, water, etc.) and getting worse.  Their rigid caste system is benefiting only a small percentage of engineers and software developers at the top of that system.

 Most of all, as the U.S. economy enters a long downturn, the U.S. consumer, whose now decimated dollars have been the primary payment for these nations’ goods, will no longer be there to fuel the growth that has launched their economic expansions.

 What lies ahead for humanity will need to be addressed both internationally and locally in all parts of the world.  If we are going to survive to create the new world, the old rules based on greed, short-sightedness, mechanistic materialism, and self-absorption will no longer work, no matter where we happen to live.

Politics and the Presidential Election:

 As I have stated in previous newsletters, Barak Obama had an advantage with the transit of Mars in Gemini in January and February.  On March 4^th, the next big primary election date, Mars goes into the sign of Cancer which should help Hillary Clinton.  The problem is that Obama has built up enormous momentum and this Mars transit between March 4^th and May 9^th does not hurt his chart as the previous Mars hurt Hillary Clinton.  She now not only has to win, but win big.  However, do not count her completely out.  This is a tough call.

 Sen. John McCain, the obvious Republican nominee will benefit this month from Mars transiting his mid-heaven and making positive contacts with most of his other planets.  Starting in August all the way through November, there will be serious difficulties, stress and tension in his chart.  He needs to take care of his health during this period. 

 Final Thoughts:

 The evolution of life on this planet from simple micro-organisms to complex forms of life has never been easy.  Big events, mass extinctions, environmental upheavals have all lead to mass deaths and births of new species through millions of years of unimaginable transformations, over and over again.

 For the first time, the dominant human species has set in place conditions that would recreate the kind of upheaval and mass destruction that, in the past, were “accidents” of nature.  Maybe, residing in our collective unconscious, we actually desire a great challenge that would force us to evolve, as never before, into the next stage; the higher manifestation of human life and love only intermittently experienced by a very few individuals through the ages. 

 Like the caterpillar struggling to free itself from its chrysalis, we may be looking at only the pain, the struggle, the darkness.  It has only the faintest idea of the soaring butterfly that is its future, yet it is compelled to struggle toward its ultimate rebirth as we are compelled to fight our way toward the light that lies ahead.  And when we emerge as new and luminous, we will finally comprehend the meaning of all that went before.
