March 2007
After February’s bad weather, travel delays, and stock market crash, we are ready for Spring’s arrival this month and the retrograde Mercury to go direct on March 8th! This is a month of heightening intensity for world events. There are two eclipses; a lunar eclipse on March 3rd at 13 degrees of Virgo opposition Uranus in Pisces, and a solar eclipse at 28 degrees seven minutes of Pisces on March 19th square Pluto. In Martin Goldsmith’s “The Zodiac by Degrees”, 13 degrees Virgo is described as: “Clenching his fist and pounding the table, a charismatic statesman brings a hysterical mob under control”. The 29th degree of Pisces is described as: “Trowel in hand, a woman stands in the midst of a brilliantly colored flower garden and surveys her work. Over her shoulder, a rainbow is shining.” My interpretation of these degrees lines up with the posturing of all the politicians pounding the airwaves with speeches promoting “strong armed” imperial approaches to governing or promising a wonderful shiny new day in the U.S.A. None of the above will suffice to address the monumental mess we are engaged in within the Middle East. This is the month we will likely be dealing with issues raised by the Bush administration with Iran. There is a real chance they will be willing to sit down and have discussions with us but if we take a military measure, this will lead to absolute disaster, destabilizing the global oil economy and increasing the revenge power of Islamic extremists throughout the world. Mercury hits the solar eclipse degree on April 10th and Mars hits that degree between May 13th and 14th making violent squares with Pluto, the planet associated with nuclear weapons. Mars activates the chart of the nation of Israel this month as it was activated last June/July when they invaded Lebanon. Let us send out a collective prayer that we do not set off this chain of massively destructive events. Let us visualize peaceful political solutions to these complex issues. Between the 16th and 17th, Mercury, Venus and Pluto line up in a harmonious set of aspects that would suggest positive progress could be made.
The Economy: In spite of last month’s global market “crash” I think financial markets will show strength between now and June. As I predicted, at the very end of Feb. gold and metals in general came down. Although there will be fluctuations in the next few months, I feel gold will be held down, trading within a certain range and not allowed to spike up. It may reach a low in July as Mars is square both Saturn and Neptune around the week of July 22nd. My advice is to stay the course and buy in on the lows. There will be a series of shocks in weather, currency and derivatives markets, and possible terror attacks starting in September moving the economy toward recession. Jupiter goes into Capricorn in December where it will transit through January of 2009. This is extremely bullish for gold and by the Spring of 2008, we may see gold move up over $1000 a troy ounce. I will discuss these cycles in greater detail in later newsletters. Main stream tech stocks may rise between now and April as Mars transits Aquarius and is sextile Jupiter with week of the 18th. For the next three months, the real estate market may improve under the favorable aspects of Jupiter. This is a good time to sell your property before the “bubble” really breaks later in the year. If it is possible, move to an area you like and rent, while watching prices come down. This is a clever tactic and you may come out on top financially. The Saturn/Neptune opposition is back through the month of June. This indicates a concerted effort by the powers-that-be to bring the price of oil down. This aspect was in effect last August when we saw both oil and gold drop. This aspect is also prominent in the Chart of China and we have become aware of what a big player they have become in world financial markets since they are primarily responsible for the recent crash. They have also let us know they have the technology to take out our satellites and are a military power to contend with. They also own a sizeable portion of our gigantic national debt. Their leadership thinks they have grown too fast and there is too much of a “bubble” in their investment markets. They are a cautious and prudent nation and are aware of growing instabilities in global finance. The late degrees of Sagittarius where Pluto is currently placed have strong historic ties to Central and South America. The crises precipitated this month would point to these nations following Hugo Chavaz’s lead and moving to the left, perhaps attempting to nationalize their oil companies and utilities. There is a movement in these nations away from the interests of the corporations in the U.S.A. Mars in Aquarius activates the charts of Chavaz and Fidel Castro. In addition, the issue of illegal immigrants flocking over the Mexican border rises up again this month and there may be legislation proposed in Congress to address this.
Politics: The Democrats in Congress may actually pass something this month as Mercury goes direct on the 8th and is sextile Pluto. They are not getting anywhere at all as far as getting out of Iraq because they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. The Iraq war is probably the biggest foreign policy blunder in recent history and the consequences will haunt us for many years to come. The same multinational corporations pay for the Democrats that pay for the Republicans. Today we have one party and that is the party of Big Bucks. It will take us about twenty years, a second American Revolution, a financial collapse, a global peak oil crisis, a series of global warming events rearranging countries, before we rebuild ourselves into a real democracy. Our next president may wish he/she never ran for the office. This person will have to grow into an almost super human manifestation of a leader to overcome the crises ahead and formulate new and more egalitarian economic systems, and revise the role of government in America. At this moment, the only candidate that is not going to get “whacked” by the planets between now and 2008 is Barak Obama. When the nominations are complete, I will analyze their charts on this site.
Weather and Travel: Once Mercury goes direct on the 8th, this is a better month for travel. I think cold weather will still be around for most of this month. Watch for problems when Mars is conjunct Neptune between the 25th and the 26th.
Final Thoughts: The great astrological cycles from all the traditions; the Maya, the Vedic, and the Western systems are coming to an end, presenting us with a new paradigm for humanity. This requires of us an abandonment of old confining systems of belief that are obviously bringing us down with ancient ethnic and religious hatreds and monumental greed, selfishness and the abuse of power. It is extremely difficult for people to look at systemic collapse. Most of us just want things to stay within a certain familiar framework and we are so terrified to look beyond all this that we frequently escape into a kind of personalized fantasy or a collective coma. The coming crises will likely either bring us down or lift us up, depending on our ability to recognize the amazing opportunity to co-create a planetary human society so much greater than anything that has ever existed. As the old demons are exorcized, we may be crossing a threshold foretold by the ancient prophets and felt by human hearts through the ages as the inevitable evolutionary next step. The light is already just over the horizon. Let us summon the hope and the courage to step into it together! |
