THE SOOTHESAYER INTERNET March 2006This month’s two eclipses are signatures that will intensify all the events of last month’s crises, conflicts and uprisings. The lunar eclipse on March 14th at 24 degrees of Virgo is conjunct the Neptune in the Natal Chart of the U.S.A. and is square transiting Pluto. The clashes in Iraq leading toward civil war, the uprising in the Philippines, and the clash between the Congress and the Bush administration about turning over port management to a government-owned corporation in Dubai are all themes connected with Neptune: i.e. oil, ocean travel, hidden agendas, spying, shipping industries, and terrorist threats. Mercury is square Pluto as it retrogrades on March 2nd, suggesting darker forces at work, but making it difficult to either clarify these events or bring them to a decisive conclusion! Between March 9th and March 12th, transiting Mars is square transiting Uranus, and both are square and opposed to Pres. Bush’s progressed Sun. The solar eclipse on March 29th at 8 degrees of Aries, ruled by Mars, currently in Gemini near the Mars in the U.S.A. chart, suggests:
Behind it all:Behind our recent history is the United States’ ongoing and increased willingness to use its military might to dominate the territories holding the world’s oil reserves. More recently, increased demand by China and India are moving us toward "peak oil" and the unthinkable but inevitable: running out! What is becoming more apparent every day is that the Bush administration does not represent this nation and its interests. Instead, it is in league with the giant multinational corporations’ that are siphoning the world’s money and resources into the deep pockets of a relative handful of very rich and powerful people, getting rid of a civilized infrastructure that has benefited "the people-at-large" and moving the largest part of the world’s population into poverty. The excessive use of fossil fuel has brought the global climate to a point that will endanger the lives of hundreds of millions of people, and will likely change the shape of continents. Like the Roman Empire before us, we will exhaust our capital on endless military conflicts that will lead us into financial bankruptcy and cost the lives of innocent people. Pres. Dwight Eisenhower’s warning: "beware the military-industrial complex" has been unheeded and the consequences are staring us in the face.
The Age of Transition:It is truly my hope that this is a transitional age in the development of human civilization. The intense struggles with the age-old human tendencies of greed, war, and the misuse of power will have to be confronted. Alternatives will have to be discovered: alternative energies, alternative governance, and alternative ways of life. There is no turning back!
This Month’s Financial Markets:The up and down movement in gold will continue until Mercury goes direct around the 25th. At this time, you can expect a fairly strong upward momentum into April as global political and economic instabilities increase. People are becoming aware that the outsourcing of jobs, the reduction of real wages, and slower consumer spending are affecting the economy. Fears are surfacing about a softening of the real estate market, inflation, and rising interest rates. The lunar eclipse on the U.S.A. Neptune is getting rid of the fantasies of a bull market. Financial markets should be down somewhat this month but seriously down between April 7th and April 15th as Mars opposes Pluto and Mercury squares both Mars and Pluto at degrees of the Zodiac (27 to 29 degrees of mutable signs) associated with serious sell-offs. Having said all this, I frequently underestimate the willingness of the financial "cabal" to control markets and stop them from selling off too quickly. Interestingly, the investigation into the Dubai takeover of American ports is being headed by the Treachery, oops!, I mean Treasury Department headed up by Secretary Snow-job, oops!, I mean Snow.
Weather and Travel:Between March 10th and 12th, Mars is square Uranus. This, combined with the Mercury square Pluto early in the month points to high winds and rather strange and unusual weather systems, especially on the east coast of the U.S.A. There is also a general accident-proneness in this period. The retrograde and afflicted Mercury does not make this a good month for travel. There is too much confusion and a tendency for communications to break down. It is a better time to stay close to home and rework your income tax returns.
Health & Fitness:Many of us this month will be feeling tired and at the same time, wired! Mercury in Pisces wants to sleep, escape, and relax. Mars in Gemini is nervous, high-strung and needs to exercise and move around a lot. My answer to this dilemma is to run, walk, or ride a stationary bike for about 35 minutes every day and then crawl under the covers early every night. We need to meditate every day to calm our nervous systems and release the anxieties plaguing our lives. Drink lots of purified water to cleanse your system and eat lightly. Final comments:The "Ides of March" prophets and the sayers of sooths such as myself have a lot of material to work with this month as the Chinese curse of "interesting times" has descended upon us in a fractured world that seems to have lost its way. It appears as if the historic tendency of humans to violence, war, selfishness, and ethnic hatred is as bad as it has ever been and that there are few if any leaders we can look to with hope and admiration. In short, there are no "saviors" in sight. However, it is my belief that we are being confronted with the challenge to wake up, grow up, and take the responsibility of the kind of self governance the founders of this country envisioned. After a long period of anesthetized compliance with the powerful, a healthy dissent has arisen in this nation, leading us to discuss just where are we and what have we become! The great spirit of democracy is alive and well and, after this long period of dormancy, it is not too late to encourage it to arise again. Simply put, those who choose violence and war will ultimately self-destruct. Others may choose something else like creativity, cooperation, and a resonance with something greater and grander than we have ever known. Stay tuned! Linda Linda Schurman
