June 2010
Lunation
Madness Month:
On June 12th, we will experience a New Moon
conjunct Mars in Gemini and square Neptune in the U.S.A. natal chart.
On June 26th, we will have a Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
conjunct transiting Pluto opposition the U.S.A. Venus, whose effect I
have discussed at length in previous newsletters.
Recent
History:
To many of us, it seems as if the world has gone mad.
Our financial institutions turn out to be not much more than criminal
casino syndicates who have bribed our legislators into eliminating laws
that effectively regulated our economy and formerly (in the good ole
days) made us the envy of the world. These same banksters pushed a
subprime real estate bubble that anesthetized people who were losing
wages into thinking they could have the American Dream, then while
millions of citizens lost their homes, made a lot of money betting
against them. Monopolistic corporations have more or less gotten rid
of the “labor problem” by getting rid of American jobs through
outsourcing to cheap labor abroad or sponsoring undocumented labor
pouring across our borders whose presence has resulted in the recent new
law in Arizona. The biggest corporate entities are the oil cartels
whose close relationship with a compliant government and negligence in
the Gulf has literally turned BP’s name to mud, while Atlantic coastal
life is and will continue to be choked and throttled out of existence,
including that of many human beings who are out there trying to save it.
Meanwhile, we continue to fight two wars that cost nearly
half of the U.S. budget Republicans are howling about and most
economists think will collapse our nation into an avalanche of debt.
North Korea recently torpedoed a South Korean vessel, threatening to
start up the Korean War again. The U.S. Mars activation could mean
being in the middle of the Korean conflict, in the middle of the
Israeli/Palestinian conflict, in the middle of the Iran nuclear arms
challenge, in the middle of the ongoing ethnic street battles in Iraq,
and the seemingly endless and futile fighting in Afghanistan.
The Lunar Eclipse on the 26th is only the half
way point with regard to volcanoes erupting, earthquakes quaking, and
environmental accidents accelerating. In addition to the Gulf oil
explosion, we have had severe coal mining accidents both here and in
China and an oil leak in the neglected Alaskan pipeline. We expect
Pres. Obama to “fix” something right away that has been in the making
for about 40 years. The present set of tragedies involved corruption
galore in the government, abundant selfishness and greed in the
corporate culture, and a public-at-large “dumbed down” into
senselessness by a compliant media (who are now screaming at the
President as if he were the only one who for years has been lolling in
bed with the corporate world), and the millions of ordinary citizens
whose wish was to avoid the serious responsibility involved in the
maintenance of a real and authentic democracy. There is enough blame to
go around for all of us and the sooner we stop pointing fingers and
accept the responsibility, the sooner we will begin the march toward
real and meaningful change.
The
Economy:
Between June 3rd and June 10th,
Mars is opposition Neptune while Mercury is square Neptune. This is
news we generally do not want to hear, lending a pessimistic tone to
economic projections. This also frequently means severe weather along
coastal areas. However, between the 10th and 11th,
when Mercury is sextile both Jupiter and Uranus, and Mars is trine Pluto
between the 11th and the 16th, there may be news
that lends more optimism. As Jupiter is conjunct Uranus in Aries this
month, a new technological breakthrough may be unveiled. This is also a
configuration that favorably aspects Pres. Obama’s natal Moon and
Mercury, helping him to clarify his approach to both the oil eruption
and the economy. He may announce new investments in sustainable energy
technologies. As far as the Gulf oil catastrophe is concerned, I think
it will take until September, when Venus and Mars in Libra trine Neptune
(oil) before this will be fixed. Saturn is still inconjunct Neptune
through the end of July and Mars is inconjunct Neptune through July 26th.
These are definitive signatures for the oil eruption. Needless to say,
those who make their living fishing in the Gulf coast will be suffering
immeasurably. I do think a lot of workers will be on these beaches
working to clean things up and build protective barrier islands, since
Mars is transiting Virgo between the 8th of June and the 29th
of July.
The gold bugs will be happy on the 15th as
Venus in Leo is trine Jupiter and Uranus. However, this market will be
very volatile as currency crises throughout the world continue to plague
sovereign nations and people will buy the dollar thinking it is safer
while others will deem the dollar as innately unsafe and opt for being
in gold. My take is that the dollar is not a safe haven as our debts
continue to increase. September through December, Venus will transit
Scorpio, will go retrograde October 8th and will go direct in
Libra November 18th. September and October are good for gold
but gold is likely to drop in November reaching a low as the dollar
reaches a high around the 18th. December configurations are
generally economically pessimistic and gold will be the place to be
safe.
War and the
World:
Between now and August, there continue to be tendencies
for civil wars and conflicts in all the old places mentioned above.
When Saturn, Venus and Mars enter Libra in August, there may be more
efforts made to move toward peacemaking. The New Moon on the U.S. Mars
on the 12th of this month emphasizes the two wars we are
still fighting and complications involved in our getting out.
The Lunar
Eclipse conjunct Pluto, June 26th.
I have written about this eclipse in my past two
newsletters. In addition to environmental disasters such as the Gulf
oil eruption, volcanoes are now erupting in Ecuador, Costa Rica,
Guatemala, and Iceland. It is still uncertain whether Katla, the larger
volcano in Iceland will erupt which could cause serious worldwide
climate damage. My take is that there will be more earthquakes and
volcanoes acting up through January of 2011. I cannot predict with
certainty how serious these tectonic events will be. Central and South
America, China, Japan, Indonesia, Iceland, and the Pacific “ring of
fire” areas are the most at risk.
Final
Thoughts:
As the most moving Memorial Day ceremonies unfolded last
month, I was reminded that the Japanese military commander at the start
of World War II commented when they attacked Pearl Harbor, that they had
“awakened the sleeping giant”. Never were truer words spoken as against
all odds, we helped to win the war and arose as the foremost economic
and military power in the world. We developed a system of equal
opportunities for people-at-large never seen before in human history.
Then, the “giant” went to sleep. While the “people”
slept, the U.S. took on aspects of the Roman Empire, using its military
to control oil and gas reserves throughout the world, installing puppet
leaders, and transferring wealth away from the middle class into the
pockets of Plutocrats and monopolies. It became engaged in wars that
are threatening to bankrupt the nation. By the creation of complex and
unprecedented financial instruments, the economy became a global
roulette game, drawing in and seducing leaders of other nations until
their sovereign wealth collapsed. Meanwhile the energy from fossil
fuels that built modern civilization has reached “peak” status and, more
importantly, has revealed itself to be a threat to ecological survival.
The giant is now rubbing his eyes and awakening to a
nightmare of such gravity, he does not know where to turn. The giant is
no longer the American Empire, but it is the people all over the planet
that are irrevocably linked within a biological web of life and a newly
compelling spiritual spiral of light. The old world of predator and
prey is coming to an end as we are beginning to understand that
cannibalizing our planet is the way to a quick ending to the human
experiment.
As the Hindu, the Maya, and the Hopi all predicted, if we
so choose, we are at the threshold of a new and dimensionally advanced
consciousness in which the most apparent and obvious will soon reveal
itself to all who are open and receptive. And we may be filled with awe
of a love so great and embracing that every creature on earth will know
the true meaning of our lives, as the most amazing constellation of
prophecies will be fulfilled. Stay tuned!
