The Movers and Shakers:

This month’s Lunations highlight the dramas facing the movers and shakers in the U.S.A.; the reigning “Cabal” who have moved us out of our houses and shaken down the global economy.  July 3rd’s New Moon in Cancer is right on the Sun in the chart of America and the Full Moon in Capricorn on the 18th is hitting its Pluto.  The helplessness of Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke to make any difference at all in the fall of the dollar, massive energy inflation as oil skyrockets to $140 a barrel, and the continuing foreclosure avalanche, is now apparent.  Massive layoffs are reported in banking and finance, especially as Citigroup, the largest banking entity in the world, is dissolving into insolvency and selling off or closing many of its locations throughout the world. The stock market continues to fall, even when the big financial entities try to prop it up.  Gold shot upward on June 27th, since you can’t keep a good guy down!

Senator Barbara Boxer, backed by most of the Democrats  has presented an alternative energy bill that the Republicans filibustered to death, even though it has become apparent that global warming is, as predicted by climate scientists, flooding, burning, and blowing away the land and lives of millions.  The flood of the Mississippi River from Iowa and Illinois, through Missouri is reported to the worst in 500 years!  Over 800 fires burned in California.  Water crises are presenting themselves in the southern and western parts of our country.  It has been reported by environmental scientists and oceanographers that about 400 “dead zones” now exist in the world’s oceans due to acidification produced by global warming and off shore pollution shed by cities located on shorelines.  The polar ice caps and the Greenland Glacier are either shrinking, cracking, or dissolving whose effect will be to inundate coastal cities all over the world.

As Mercury opposes Pluto on July 11th, the group psychosis of those in denial will face exposure and the movers themselves will finally be shaken.

The Economy:

Between July 1st and July 11th, more bearish news emerges as Mercury is square Uranus and opposed Pluto, while Mars moves to conjunct Saturn.  Reality bites.  Between the 1st and the 7th, however, Venus is trine Uranus, helping reveal some new technologies connected with medicine, farming, and food.

Mars will transit Virgo from July 2nd to August 20th, passing aspects to Saturn (limitation), Uranus (innovation), and Pluto (crisis and power).  My take is that there will be more massive downsizing announced, jobs lost in financial, retail, and even healthcare industries.  There will likely be labor issues and scandals around the abuse of power (again).  We could see another up-tick in gold between July 24th and August 5th.  I still see a great deal of fluctuation as people jump into gold and the Cabal tries to push it down.  Ultimately, as the over-all economy sinks, the dollar is being replaced all over the world with a “basket” of currencies, and many banks are losing their solvency, fiat money will rush into gold money.  As I have said in previous newsletters, the period between October and November may see gold reach all time highs, with silver not far behind.  Although there will be an attempt to bring down oil prices this month, it will eventually fail and people will be forced to get rid of their gas-guzzlers, share cars, use public transportation, or stay home.  July and August appear to me to be the worst “vacation” months I have seen in a long while.  People will not have the funds.

Weather & Travel:

The transit of Mercury (wind) looks like more tornadoes and severe storms this month, especially from the 4th through the 10th.  August looks even more turbulent and we cannot rule out hurricanes since the season has begun.  I do not have the technological proficiency to point to locations.  There are astrologers who have spent years working on planetary patterns and weather, but this is not my specialty.  However, be cautious about planning vacations this summer since Mars in Virgo, afflicting Saturn this month and Uranus and Pluto next month, usually indicates stormy weather.   

2008 Presidential election:  The Candidates

John McCain’s astrological chart shows all the things we already know about him.  His Virgo Sun, trine Uranus (the maverick) is in his 11th house of groups and teams plus Mars (the military) in his career house showing his leadership with troops in Viet Nam and many years serving in the U.S. Senate.  His Libra rising interested him in politics and with Venus, the ruler, in the 12th house of prisons, shows his history of bravery and heroism in a prisoner of war camp.  His Capricorn moon opposition Pluto in his career house points to an inner conflict about being part of the “establishment” in Washington and wanting to rebel against them.  This also points to incredible patience and endurance combined with periods of being “fed up” and lashing out at those who get in his way.  He has sold out many of his positions during the Bush years in order to stay in the game and reach the presidency and the price has been high.  He is not defying the global financial cabal that has crashed the economy, is concerned about global warming and sustainable energies, and believes in using the military might of the U.S.A. in Iraq indefinitely and would bomb Iran.  The problem he has now with becoming President is that transiting Saturn opposition Uranus at the time of the election is right on his Neptune Saturn opposition and his progressed Moon in Virgo will square transiting Pluto.  These aspects  point to some potentially serious health problems.  In addition, these conflicts mirror those of our nation, that at the time of the election will be tearing us apart.  However, he has some favorable connections to transiting Mars in Scorpio, at the time, making this election a close one.

Barak Obama’s chart is distinctly different.  He is a Leo Sun in the 6th house of community service, with Uranus conjunct the North Node in Leo in his 7th house of politics and the law.  He has Aquarius rising, connecting him to the Moon in the U.S.A. chart and his Leo planets connect with the chart of the U.S. Presidency.  He would be an agent for change, especially in sustainable technologies and the discovery of new energy sources.  He is brilliant academically and has distinguished himself at Columbia and Harvard Universities.  His ground breaking run as the first African American nominee for President is also the “American Dream”, having risen without great financial resources, overcome the absence of his father and the death of his mother, and embraced the values of his grandparents from Kansas.  His Gemini Moon would help him appeal to young people, reform public education, and be a fluid and inspiring communicator.  With Uranus in his 7th house of marriage, he has great respect for the independence and accomplishment of his wife and women in general.  He would also listen to those who disagree with him and be willing to change a position if he feels it is right.  He also would choose diplomacy rather than military engagements.  However, he would not hesitate to use the military if necessary.  At the time of the election, transiting Mars in Scorpio square Neptune, afflicting his chart, points to a possible major crisis that could threaten his run for office.  Possibly, the Bush administration could push another war or instigate some kind of attack.  However, he has a chance of winning, in spite of these obstacles, but I think it will be a close election.

The charts of the election and the inauguration are disturbing.  The Uranus/Saturn opposition and the Mars/Neptune square on Election Day are seriously negative aspects.  The void-of-course Moon at the critical 29 degrees of Scorpio on Inauguration

Day is on Barak Obama’s MC in the same degree as the Sun in Robert F. Kennedy’s chart and the Sun on the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  Historically, there is a serious danger that, if we are not careful, he might not finish out his term.  If John McCain is elected, he may not finish his term due to health issues.

We should all pay close attention to the people these men choose as their running mates. 

Final Thoughts:

The constellations point toward the challenges we have faced before and will face again, only this time, the fate of the planet as a whole is at stake.  The ancient demons residing in the human psyche are back, but so are the angels.  The real war will not only be fought by military forces, but within ourselves.  Will we handle the critical decisions ahead of us from a place of fear and annihilation or transcend the darkness with a fresh vision of cooperation for the greater good?  Planetary patterns can be understood and expressed in very different ways.  The light is here with us.  We need only look up.
