Happy New Year!

News: the world is probably not going to end this year.  We won’t get off that easily!

I will concentrate on the big issues arriving on the scene this year.  First, I will list what I consider to be the major astrological events which will shake us up both figuratively and literally.

Activation of U.S. Chart’s Neptune 24 degrees Virgo square U.S. Mars at 21 degrees Gemini:  Mars stations retrograde on Neptune square Mars Jan. 24^th, Mercury goes direct at 23 degrees Pisces opposite Neptune square Mars April 4^th, Venus goes retrograde at 23 degrees Gemini conjunct Mars square Neptune on May 15^th, New Moon at 23 degrees Virgo conjunct Neptune square Mars on Sep. 16^th.

Feb. 4^th transiting Neptune enters Pisces where it remains until March 25^th 2025, March 22^nd, New Moon is conjunct Uranus in Aries, Mars goes direct  April 14^th,  May 20^th Solar eclipse at 00 degrees Gemini square transiting Neptune in Pisces, June 4^th, Lunar Eclipse on the Ascendant of the U.S.A., June  6^th, Venus Occultation at 15 degrees Gemini on the Descendant of the U.S.A.,  June 24^th Uranus is exactly square Pluto which continues through the end of 2015,  Oct. 5^th, Saturn goes into Scorpio trine Neptune and is sextile Pluto in December.

The Economy:

People will no longer be able to deny that we are in the middle of a Great Depression, in spite of attempts of the corporate run media to “spin” that things are getting better.  By the second week of January, as Mercury leaves optimistic Sagittarius going into pessimistic Capricorn square Uranus and going over Pluto, it will be very difficult for financial markets and exchanges throughout the world.  We already know that currencies are unstable, and the European Union will have a tough time hanging together, the Euro is unstable, and there will be a lot of anguish all over the world as to the validity of fiat currency.  The dollar strengthened recently as a knee-jerk reaction to instabilities in Europe.  Some will get into gold and silver, and some may sell their gold and silver for cash.  Therefore, there will be wild fluctuations in these prices.  Starting in October, when Saturn goes into Scorpio moving into a sextile with Pluto in Dec., gold may make a significant move upward to new price levels as the dollar will be significantly challenged as the global reserve currency.

With Neptune activations, confusion will cause panics, more financial scandals and bankruptcies like MF Global will abound.  This newsletter has discussed the inherent dangers in the derivatives trade that has grown to over $700 trillion worldwide, which is what MF Global was doing and lost all their clients’ money doing so.  Neptune tells us that money, securities, banking, investments, in fact the whole system upon which modern economics is based is a kind of agreed-upon illusion.  This cycle is not good for commodities this year, although gold is in a different category since many people consider it money.  Gasoline prices and oil prices have remained high, even though we have such a surplus that we are selling it abroad.  This has benefitted the oil companies, ruled by Neptune and Pluto, both of which are writing the scripts for the economy.  These prices will come down since chronic wide-spread unemployment is having the effect of less usage.  Commodity economy nations such as Canada, Brazil, The Sudan, Nigeria, and the Gulf nations will all be affected.

Massive populist and government debts set a scene where economic growth is marginal, if it exists at all and I do not see any progress in Washington whose ability to govern looks more and more like bedlam with each passing day.

Natural and Ecological Disasters:

This year is, indeed, filled with challenges, as more oil spills, more nuclear disasters like the Fukushima plant in Japan are abundant.  The period between April and June highlight the deadly consequences of our fossil fuel civilization.  Severe flooding is part of this picture, some of which may be attributed to climate change and some may be the result of tsunamis.

With Uranus square Pluto in the earthquake danger zone  (8 degrees Capricorn) to which I have referred in past newsletters, combined with the powerful May 20^th Solar Eclipse square Neptune in Pisces, I am predicting a strong probability of severe earthquake activity in the Northwest coast of the U.S. through California and down into Mexico.  Japan, Alaska (the Aleutians), Chile, Iceland, Indonesia, and Italy all show chart activation.  I am especially concerned about San Francisco area as these degrees were activated in 1906 and 1989 when severe earthquakes struck there.  I cannot rule out off shore quakes creating great tsunamis similar to last years 9. Earthquake and tsunami in Japan, which I predicted last year in my Feb. newsletter.    

The Great Revolution:

Last year I predicted that it would be the beginning of the 2^nd American Revolution.  The Arab Spring brought overthrows of governments in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and a major protest movement and civil war in Syria.  These nations are still under the influence of the Pluto/Uranus square and will not be stabilized this year.  Populations all over the world are being connected through the internet and social media and able to communicate in unprecedented ways. 

The Occupy Wall Street movement effectively formed itself in September of 2011.  I think it will become cohesive, well organized, and eventually may form a viable third political party, displacing another.  This movement is not going away and will hopefully be a peaceful means of transforming America back to the future to the values of our founding fathers.  The proposed amendment to the Constitution taking all private money out of politics may gain traction. 

What is most interesting is that these truly “Aquarian” movements are not gathered around a single charismatic leader, but give everyone a “voice”, and are characterized by group cohesion and purpose, which is what democracy is all about.

With Neptune’s transit into Pisces, we are going to see our society move from worshiping “banksters” and billionaires, to being more interested in regular people-at-large and the “greater good”.  The last transit of Neptune in Pisces brought about the Abolitionist movement which led to the American Civil War and the abolishing of the horrible institution of slavery.  The science of medicine made great breakthroughs with the discovery and use of microscopes and microorganisms, bacteria as a cause of infection, hygiene, vaccination, homeopathy, etc. and I would expect these kinds of revolutionary breakthroughs in medicine and health to emerge during this period.

The Energy Revolution:

Between now and the 2020s, I think that we will discover and harness fusion and other energy technologies which will eliminate the need for fossil fuels.  The last time Uranus was square Pluto in 1933, the Germans split the atom, which was a profound breakthrough in physics.  These scientific discoveries and breakthroughs will likely have infrastructure built for them around the world by the period of 2024-2026 when we are completely out of the depression cycle, and will mark a period of social and economic transformation.

The Water Crisis:

With Neptune going into Pisces we are entering a period of global water crises.  Due mainly to climate change, oceans will rise, inundating coastal regions with salt water.  Parts of the world will be so hot and dry, people will be migrating to places with adequate water supplies.   The western U.S., China and Mongolia, Australia, Southern India and many parts of Africa will all be at severe risk.

At this time, global capitalists are “spinning” the great future of China’s economy, and, indeed, they have no debt and a lot of money saved.  However, their air is so polluted you cannot see the blue sky, their major rivers are drying up due the melting of the Himalayan glaciers and their aquifers are so polluted with factory waste people are becoming ill.  They are currently buying bottled water from Lake Huron to ship back to China due to their potable water crises.  China has been busy purchasing rights to commodities all over the world.  They have the largest standing army in the world and are known to have about 3,000 miles of underground nuclear warhead silos.  The water crisis could move them into an historically uncharacteristically military mode.

The U.S. activation of its Neptune/Mars square this year would point to special ops military engagements throughout the world, especially related to nuclear, oil and water resources.  When Neptune is involved, confusion dominates.  This is a warning about engaging ourselves, especially in a nation like Iran, in a war which we will all regret.

The Presidential Election:

Mercury goes retrograde on Election day and does not go direct until Nov. 26^th.  and does not reach the place it went retrograde until December.  We all remember the last time this happened in the 2000 Bush v. Gore fiasco.  We will be unlikely to know the result immediately and their will be accusations of election fraud, computer hacking, and out-right criminal behavior.  I will discuss the election at greater length when the Republicans have nominated their candidate.

Let us be Aware:

A law has been going through the House and the Senate that would give our own military the legal right to capture and imprison American citizens without due process – i.e. the right to a lawyer and a trial.  Pres. Obama has said he would veto this, but he has capitulated so many times, I do not trust his promise. This is explicitly forbidden in the U.S. Constitution and will, if passed, be challenged before the Supreme Court, whose turn to the extreme “right” would let it stand.  This law will come up in 2012 and I urge all of you to write Pres. Obama and your congressmen about it and do everything you can to stop this insanity.

Final Thoughts:

It would seem that the Maya, the Hopi, and the Hindus were all right in picking 2012 as a cycle of great destruction, endings, and new beginnings.  Certainly, most of us are observing that this is a kind of “dark night of the soul” for humanity as our institutions are failing, the people we have trusted in positions of power have sold out, tectonic movements are accelerating, over-population and poverty seem to be rising, and many are paralyzed by fear and despair

I, for one, have made a very personal choice.  I choose to see this as a time when we have the greatest opportunity to rid ourselves of the greed and self-absorption that has destroyed our lives over and over again throughout human history.  Recent studies have show that people are the happiest when they are looking after one another, when we make sacrifices for those we love, when we reach out to help those around us.  The earth “shakings” may wake us up; pull us out of our stupor, and help us to reach deep within our personal and collective psyche for the eternal knowing that we are all formed from a core consciousness that is omni-present at all times and has the answers to every question.

In order to access this, it has been my experience that I have to choose love over fear, and peace over turmoil.  If we should make that choice, the next age will truly by the one promised by the grand constellations that light our pathway from above.
