Eclipsed again!

The Lunar Eclipse of August 6^th and the New Moon on August 20^th land on Pres. Obama’s Sun, No. Node and Uranus respectively like the charge of the light brigade (pardon the pun)!, while Mars in Gemini moves over a square with Saturn and then Uranus, including returning to the U.S.A. Mars. 

This will be a challenging month for the president.  The eclipse hits the charts of Israel, Russia, and many of the Middle Eastern nations.  The U.S. will likely be engaged in a behind-the-scenes conflict with Israel and suggest some changes in policy with respect to this nation.  The Obama administration may, as a team, come to a realization that the war in Afghanistan is an exercise in futility under the current conditions, while rebellions and terror strikes coming from other nations, including Saudi Arabia, may rise to the surface.

Their ongoing accusations that Iran is developing nuclear weapons have yet to be proven.  The Israelis may want to attack Iran, but do not have the ability to take out every nuclear station and such a strike would further destabilize the Middle East, escalate the price of oil, and finish off the faltering global economy.

Another important person whose chart is being activated by the New Moon on August 20^th, is Rep. Ron Paul.  He is taking the battle for financial transparency to a new level by getting members of Congress to sign on to an audit of the Federal Reserve.  There is also a movement to audit Fort Knox to see how much gold is really held there, since it has been over 50 years since an audit has taken place.  Last month, I stated that the monopolists and the “banksters” will no longer be able to hide.  Articles have been written and the public are just beginning to demand the truth be told.  And it isn’t pretty!

Health Care:

Saturn in Virgo opposition to Uranus in Pisces is being demonstrated by opposition both within the parties and between the parties at every turn.  The Republicans, infected by the “whine flu” complain that the current bill is all about socialized medicine and seem to ignore that we already have healthcare in the hands of the private sector and that medicine for profit has been a disaster.  They have come up with essentially little or nothing.  The Democrats are conflicted among themselves, with the so-called Blue Dogs afraid of a public sector choice, which, if eliminated, would make the bill meaningless.

I do not think that anything will pass until October and even then, there will be leftover problems that will extend to the period of May through July of 2010.  Something will likely be written into legislation, but it will be “piecemeal” rather than sweeping reform. 

The Economy:

We have been experiencing a Bear Market rally with dips from time to time.  Because of unregulated derivatives, the capability of manipulation of markets is still there, in spite of the Congress talking about regulating this kind of trade.  In addition, most of the improved profit margins are due to cost-cutting layoffs rather than revenues.  My take is that at the end of this month around the 25^th, when Mars, Mercury and Pluto are square and opposed the U.S. Venus, more crises with our currency will emerge.  After the New Moon on the 20^th, gold is likely to come off its lows and begin a rise again.  Until then, I think gold will likely move downward.  Recent meetings between the Obama administration and the Chinese government have been good for public relations but I am not convinced we have regained their confidence that we will get our debt or our currency under control.

I would love to believe all the spin that the worst is over and we are on route to recovery, but all the same people who are telling us this are the same ones who told us last year that the economy was “sound”.  As an astrologer, I know that the worst is yet to come and that this depression will not hit bottom till around 2015.  Nobody is talking about bringing manufacturing back into the country, getting rid of the practice of outsourcing, or lending money to business start-ups.  Eventually, we will innovate and invent our way out of this crisis, but until all this plays out, jobs are the bottom line.  More job losses will be announced this month as Mars in Gemini is square Saturn in Virgo. We have no essentially “real” economy without employed consumers.

The Obama Stimulus Plan is keeping states from going bankrupt and temporarily helping them to meet their obligations to make unemployment and disability payments.  It will eventually provide jobs for people making infrastructure repairs, but there is not enough money in this package to turn the economy around.  California, New York, Pennsylvania are all nearly insolvent and will be forced to cut essential services.  New Jersey, already with a black eye connected with recent scandals with politicians, rabbis, and money laundering schemes, will be having a rough month politically and financially.

Medicine & Health:

Aside from the battle for healthcare reform, some major progress may be announced this month moving toward a cure for Cancer between August 9^th and Aug. 23^rd as Venus in the sign of Cancer is sextile Mercury and Saturn and then is trine Uranus.  In addition, there is real attention being brought to the obesity epidemic in this nation and a new popular resolve to do something about it.  Over the long haul, preventative medicine and good health practices will reduce illness more than all the so called “cures”.

Watch out for a Summer “virus” this month by getting plenty of sleep, drinking lots of water and eating lightly.

Travel & Weather:

Aug. 16^th through the 21^st may be the stormiest and is not a good time for air travel.

 Final Thoughts:

The past couple of months have brought to all of us losses; people who seemed to represent decades of history in music, the arts, entertainment and reporting.  I lost my mother in this time period and heard from cherished friends who have been diagnosed with serious health crises.  There are many souls who are departing for, what we hope, is a more peaceful spiritualized existence, beyond the more obstructed universe in which we reside.

For the rest of us, the challenge is not to just survive, but to be part of the evolutionary spiral upward to what lies beyond all the painful confrontations and collapses of systems based upon what was selfish and unsustainable.  We are here to contribute ideas and innovations for a future that is invested in conserving life on the planet and creating a new human civilization with a quality of experience filled with exciting breakthroughs in science and societies based on encouragement, support, and opportunity.

These notions may currently seem utopian and unattainable.  At the moment, the planets symbolize conflicts that may not be resolved in the near future.  It is a time to contemplate, be silent, back off, and allow the higher and wiser visions to speak to us.  It is time for the “knowing” to come directly from a heart-centered place.  The center of the universe beckons to us with its multitude of lights.
