Mars and Aries – Symbols of War and Revolution

The sign of Aries and its ruling planet, Mars, have been associated with conflict and war throughout the ages.  They are currently demonstrating that human society hasn’t changed much.  This month, Uranus, Jupiter, the Sun, retrograde Mercury, and Mars are all transiting this sign, lighting more fires in the Middle East that have been flaming since Jupiter entered this sign the end of January.

The revolutions that have been ignited have a great deal of justification behind them since there is a genuine desire for democracy and economic opportunity that are all but absent in these nations.  There is an escalating momentum to get rid of the various forms of despotic rule that these people have endured for so many years.  However the situations are complex and varied and will take a long time to clarify.  The mobilization of NATO and the UN by the United States to create a no-fly zone and help the protesters in Libya to unseat Gaddafi, will likely escalate this month as Uranus is opposed their natal Uranus.  However, this month’s Mercury retrograde in Aries makes momentum for this revolution unpopular in the U.S and difficult to execute in Libya.  There will be pressures on Pres. Obama to shorten our engagement and fears we are in another “quagmire”.  The real irony is that as Saturn is transiting Libra (sign of peacemaking) will be at odds with Uranus in Aries (war) which is a recipe for confusion.  Our greatest hope is that more of Gaddafi’s supporters will defect, weakening his effort.

Mars lines move through the Gulf States, especially Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.  The April 3^rd New Moon in Aries conjunct Jupiter and opposite Saturn amplifies all of this activity.  The Mars/Uranus line hits Iran and will likely activate this nation, giving more energy to the rebellion there as well as igniting tectonic events.  Israel recently endured a terrorist bomb going off in Jerusalem, and will likely engage itself in some kind of retaliation.  The transits are activating the chart of Pakistan to the point of a possible civil conflict that could threaten to unseat the present government.

Natural Disasters

Currently, Uranus is square the ascendant of Japan and will be joined by Mars between the 2^nd and the 3^rd.  Last month’s earthquake and tsunami of Biblical proportions is worsened by destruction of their nuclear plants and threatened “meltdowns”.  If they do not order the shut-down and covering up of these plants, I am concerned things could get much worse and contaminate large areas of land and water.  They have been shutting down auto parts plants in the U.S. and elsewhere and are bound to suffer economically.

Last year’s Lunar Eclipse conjunct Pluto in June has carry-over effects through June of this year.  I interpreted this eclipse as symbolizing environmental disasters similar to Chernobyl, since a similar eclipse in April of 1986 coincided with this event.  In addition the Bhopal, India chemical disaster took place that year.   The BP oil eruption last year was part of this cycle.  Now, we are talking about Japan’s nuclear plant destruction, comparing it to Chernobyl.  Another oil spill occurred recently in the Atlantic Ocean and oil is still leaking in the Gulf area, destroying life in the waters there.

Australia has been suffering effects of climate extremes and it looks like this month is no exception as the Mars/Uranus line moves through there.  Earthquakes, fires, or storms could plague this nation.  New Zealand has recently suffered serious earthquakes running through their centers of population.  Their chart is activated this month, by the Pluto/Mars square between the 9^th and the 12^th of this month.  This nation will suffer the effects of the Pluto/Uranus square that is exact June of 2012.  There was a serious earthquake in Myanmar last month, adding more suffering to this nation’s history.  A volcano is erupting in Indonesia.    

In the U.S.,  the chart of California is activated as are worries that nuclear pollution from Japan is traveling across the ocean into their area.  In addition, their nuclear plants are also located on fault regions, near the coast, and subject to similar risks.  As my readers know, I have been warning of earthquake risks here for many years and am concerned that between May and June of 2012, there could be a major tectonic event in the area around San Francisco.  Historically, I have noted that the 1906 earthquake here had Uranus at 8/9 degrees of Capricorn opposite Neptune and the 1989 earthquake had Uranus returning to 8/9 degrees of Capricorn, conjunct Neptune.  In 2012, Pluto is at 8/9 degrees Capricorn, square Uranus at 8/9 degrees of Aries.  They should be using this valuable time to prepare for these possible events. 

The Economy:

It is painfully obvious to all who wish to see that financial markets are being manipulated.  This follows the fact that most of the world’s wealth is concentrated in the accounts of a very few wealthy and powerful corporate heads and “banksters”.  The U. S. stock market rarely goes down significantly in connection with world shaking events.  Multi-national corporations are just “sailing along” with their profits and tax breaks while millions of people here and throughout the world are on a sinking ship.  This keeps the hallowed tradition going of Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

Due to overpopulation, climate change, and ecological destruction, we are entering a time of global food shortages and are recently witnessing costs rising.  Oil prices are rising as is price inflation across the board.    News about the real economy is grim with new housing construction at nearly an all-time low.  Hardly any new jobs are being created.  In fact, there is a movement to replace workers in manufacturing with robots in the near future.  Banks are moving to refinance loans, but at a very slow pace if at all.  Major cuts are being proposed in infrastructure for the public at large in significant ways.  We will soon have little or no funding for social services, education, bridges, highways, police and firefighters since anything that supports the people-at-large is on the chopping block.  Yet, the government is projecting “growth” in the economy.  I guess that means growth for the execs at Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan/Chase and all those others trading in “dark” unregulated tax evading derivatives markets.  Military spending is still high while we are still stuck in Afghanistan, have 50,000 troops in Iraq, and are now engaging our military with NATO in Libya. 

There was another oil spill in the Atlantic last month and more appearances of oil slicks in the Gulf.  The Gulf nations where most of the world’s oil is contained are in upheaval.  The nuclear catastrophe in Japan has called our attention to the mind-numbing dangers of nuclear energy here.  Yet the Obama administration has released more undersea areas for drilling and is sticking with his policy to build more nuclear plants.  Nearly nothing of significance here in the U.S. is going into sustainable energy research and development.

There is some hope with small companies teaming up with universities doing research in these areas.  I think there will be significant breakthroughs here but will not be online until the 2020s.

Big Traders vs. Little People

As oil prices rise, and climate extremes escalate, as  mentioned above, a global food crisis is gaining in momentum.  Even isolated North Korea has called upon international agencies to save them.   I think the smartest investments are in energy, stable currencies such as the Swiss Franc,  the Canadian dollar, gold and silver (even though they will take hits), and food commodities.  I also think with all the planets in Aries, many technology stocks will likely move up this month.  People, however, are going to be waking up to the gulf of economic inequality and there is likely to be a lot of conflict in Washington and in the “streets” of our nation.   The transnational capitalist cartel will do all they can to shelter their positions but with all the instability this month, they will need to build moats around their castles.   Mars hits a square with Pluto between the 11^th and the 12^th, precipitating another crisis and more bad news for the economy. It will likely have little effect on financial markets.  This square may also accent the recent scandal at Berkshire Hathaway and the conflict between Buffet and Sokol.  Warren Buffet has been an icon in America, symbolizing the genius of healthy long-term investment in deserving industries.  He is among the few men of huge wealth that is actually in favor of his paying higher taxes.  He is moving toward retirement and this conflict raises questions as to who will replace him. 

Nearly all Revolutions are Economic in Nature:

In other revolutionary periods, people knew who they wished to depose, as is true in the Middle East now.  In the U.S., people generally do not know the members of the financial cartels, the giant derivative traders, who have “bought out” our elected officials captured by their need to finance their campaigns and cultivate favor with the corporate controlled media giants.  Our forefathers knew they were rebelling against England and King George and the monarch-backed monopolies.  The French knew they were overthrowing King Louis and Marie Antoinette.  Most people here know so little about what has happened to them, they are more likely to turn to “conspiracy” theories about aliens and ancient societies.  My opinion is that old fashioned selfishness, greed, and self-absorbed justification is alive and well among the 400 families in the U.S. who own more than 50% of this nation’s wealth.  They are behind the cannibalization of the planet for fossil fuels that are destroying life, the industrialization of farming and food industries that are destroying our soils, water sources, and our health.  They are deliberately targeting job destruction through outsourcing for the cheapest labor, getting rid of unions, massive automation and influencing legislators to allow them to escape being taxed in proportion to their incomes and profits.   Aries planets are rarely patient, thoughtful, or deliberative.  People are waking up to the nightmare.  I recommend that rather than blowing up and shooting each other, we organize ourselves around sincerely intelligent candidates, local organic farming, sustainable energy production, water conservation, and relocalization of our lives within democratically run communities.  We need to be moving toward living in concert with life on earth and in cooperation with one another.  The second American Revolution will be from the grass roots upward and I am seeing it happen.

Mercury Retrograde:

Yes, we even have Mercury in Aries going retrograde from March 30^th through April 23^rd.  This complicates the decision-making processes for governments and individuals in a very tumultuous period.  If you can postpone signing important documents or starting new projects until the 23^rd, it will bode better for the outcomes.  Aries is an energetic and impulsive sign and it will be tempting for most of us to rush forward when it is advisable to contemplate our positions very carefully.

Final Thoughts – Neptune in Pisces:

On April 4^th, Neptune enters the sign of Pisces until Aug. 4^th, when it briefly retrogrades back into Aquarius until Feb. 4^th of 2012 where it will be until March of 2025.  Neptune is strong in its own traditional sign and may lend a welcome expansion of consciousness into spiritual realms, helping to revolutionize our view of reality.  Amazing discoveries in sub-atomic physics may combine with ancient insights from spiritual avatars.  Religion and science may no longer battle with one another, but may be gazing at a wondrous universe embracing all things.  The laws governing particles and waves may be united within a law of unified consciousness. 

Human beings who cannot embrace this may become obsolete, as a new kind of human life emerges.  The obstructed universe will give way to less obstruction.  Many people will embrace “life after death” as we may perceive ourselves as a core energy consciousness that transcends the limitations of dense physical embodiment.  The beginnings of this may manifest by our experiencing communications from our loved-ones from beyond the grave; a curiosity that has been with us for a long time, but rarely embraced fully within our reality. We may truly leave time and space, as we currently perceive them and move into multiple aspects of creation itself within a grand illumination that the Divine resides within us.

Let us all open our minds and hearts.  Let us welcome into our lives the grandest and greatest human experience as foretold by the constellations above.
